Coach's Message

Eric Chamberland
Head Coach
In 1885, workers drove the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway at Craigellachie, B.C. To get there, the line had to push west through the Bow Valley and over the Rockies, one mile of track at a time. Nobody remembers the easy stretches of prairie. They remember the crews who finished the hardest part. We're at the halfway point of our season, and this week we head into the Bow Valley ourselves. Our job is the same as those crews: lay down the next mile, then the next one, and finish what we started. Bow Valley, Bert Church, Springbank. Three games. Let's drive the last spike." – Coach Chamberland
Game Preview
Croxford Cavaliers at Bow Valley High Saturday, September 26 | 1:00 PM | Spring Lakes Field, Cochrane The Cavaliers hit the road to Cochrane this Saturday riding momentum from a dominant 74-0 win over Horseshoe Crossing. It was a complete team performance on both sides of the ball, but the message in the locker room this week has been simple: last week is over. Bow Valley enters the game at 1-3, but their record doesn't tell the full story. They fell 23-20 to Springbank on a late field goal, then followed it up with another narrow loss to Chestermere. Both games went down to the wire, and this is a team that competes every snap. On paper, the Cavs hold the edge. The offence has been one of the most explosive in the league, putting up points in bunches, while a young defence continues to grow week by week and is starting to play with real confidence. But games aren't won on paper, and a proud Bow Valley squad will be looking to make a statement in front of their home crowd. Fall Football Weather Temperatures are dropping and Saturday is shaping up to feel like true fall football in the foothills. Bundle up, bring a blanket, and come out to support the Cavs on the road. Keys to the Game Start fast. Setting the tone early on the road takes the home crowd out of it. Stay disciplined. Penalties and turnovers are the fastest way to keep a hungry opponent in the game. Play our football. Execute, trust the preparation, and play for each other. The Bigger Picture Saturday marks the midway point of the season, and it has been a big one for the program. Croxford has been moved up to the 5A tier by Football Alberta, placing the Cavaliers among the largest schools and toughest competition in the province. It's a sign of where this program is headed, but the focus right now is on finishing strong. After Bow Valley, the Cavs return home to Ed Eggerer Field to host Bert Church for Homecoming, then close out the regular season in Springbank against the Phoenix on October 9. Three games left. Let's finish together. Go Cavs!
