Coach's Message
Eric Chamberland
Head Coach
Saturday celebrates the growth of football in Airdrie, built by the minor programs that feed all three of our high schools. It's also a day to honour our 22 Grade 12 players, many of whom I've known since Grade 9. They've given this program everything. Let's celebrate them, compete hard against a great Bert Church team, and enjoy the day together.
Game Preview
Bert Church Chargers at Croxford Cavaliers Saturday, October 3 | 6:00 PM | Ed Eggerer Athletic Park Senior Celebration | Airdrie Homecoming Festival It doesn't get much bigger than this. Two 4-1 teams, two Airdrie schools, and a whole city watching on Homecoming weekend. Many of the players on both sidelines know each other well, having played together in the Calgary spring league with the Airdrie Raiders. Saturday they line up on opposite sides, and that only adds to what promises to be a great night of football. The Cavaliers come in red hot with four straight wins, outscoring opponents 233-37 over that stretch. The offence is firing on all cylinders, putting up 48 against George McDougall, 66 against Notre Dame, 74 against Horseshoe Crossing and 45 last week at Bow Valley. The defence keeps getting better each week, coming off back-to-back shutouts. Bert Church enters looking to bounce back after a tough, lopsided loss to Cochrane. Expect a hungry, motivated Chargers team that knows plenty about the Cavs and will be ready to play. On paper, Croxford holds the edge, but cross-town games rarely follow the script. Senior Celebration Before kickoff, we honour our 22 Grade 12 players and their families. These young men have given everything to this program, and many have been part of Cavaliers football since Grade 9. Come early, cheer loud, and help us send them off the right way. Keys to the Game Start fast. Feed off the Homecoming crowd from the opening kickoff. Keep the defence rolling. Win at the line of scrimmage and keep building on two straight shutouts. Play for the seniors. Make their night one they'll remember. Up Next The Cavs close out the regular season on Friday, October 9 at 7:30 PM in Springbank against the Phoenix. Win the city. Go Cavs!
